USB Gateway Registration

System Requirements - a Windows Only Option

Our USB Transceiver supports a forecast display without a router. Displays on the USB Gateway are limited to full day forecasts (no microforecast and no warnings). We do not support TX60s on the USB gateway. Key support details:

  • Windows XP/SP3, Vista/SP2, or Windows 7 (32/64-bit)/SP1
  • We do not provide versions for the Mac or Linux.
  • We no longer support dial-up use.

Registration is as simple as following the instructions on-screen or see our Registration Guidelines (Appendix D).

A USB Gateway must stay connected (PC on), or be manually synchronized. PC suggestions are in our Power Management Guide.

See our Lost Forecast instructions when the display has blank boxes, or you experience a service interruption (e.g. turn off PC, lose internet, power outage or low batteries).

USB Gateway Registration

Download and install the USB/ERF Gateway Software if you have not already done so. Your USB gateway uses the software to receive forecasts.

  • Make sure you have the USB-ERF-Gateway software running in your system tray (blue Icon with a yellow Sun - lower right corner).
  • The USB Transceiver requires a working USB port; either directly on the PC or in a USB-powered hub (which has its own a/c adapter).
  • Right click (or double-click to re-open) the software. Plug the USB-stick into an open port then select Show USB ERF GATEWAY. Next press the Factory Reset Button in the software.
  • Under the option Settings & Modes you will see Serial No: [##] [##] [##] [##], which must match the serial number sticker on your gateway.

NOTE: If it reads 83-88-60-80 on-screen, then the PC is not reading your USB Transceiver. Try inserting the USB Transceiver into a different USB port.

  • If your serial number displays correctly, then proceed to www.weatherdirect.com and continue registration. Login to your account, select the Register menu item, and follow directions on-screen.

NOTE: When you minimize the USB software do not press the [X]. Always use the" _ " to minimize and the icon will go into your system tray.

  • After you submit your serial number, it will bring up a screen with a progress bar.

  • When you see on the screen the progress bar that counts up to 120 seconds, right click the Gateway software icon and select Push Button. Your gateway should register.

  • Continue to register your Device as directed on screen.

  • Insert batteries into your Device. Right-click the Gateway software icon and select Push Button. Read what your display says. It should read Waiting to register or Use PC to select Location.

  • If it reads Push any key to try again, then push a button on the display until it says Push Gateway button to register. Next, right click the Gateway software icon and select Push Button. Check to make sure it reads Waiting to register or Use pc to select location. If it still does not, then repeat the process.

  • Next, press the button on the website that say Click here to Continue. If it says this, then you may proceed to adjust your settings on your unit.
